About Grandmaster Chung-jen Chang

Chung-jen Chang is especially well-known for his remarkable fluidity and
flexibility. In 1989-1990, he dominated
the tournament circuit by winning the U.S.
All-Taijiquan Grand Championship, the Annual American Tai Chi Chuan
Championship and the Red Lion Tournament.

Grandmaster Chang has studied extensively in Taiwan with traditional
T’ai Chi masters, and he is a senior
student of the Renowned Taiwanese Tai Chi Master, Hsiung Wei. He is an acknowledged
expert, having consulted on the highly acclaimed movie “Pushing Hands” directed by Ang Lee, the
director of “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.” He is the performer and director of a video
workshop T’ai Chi Flexibility Training
and Forms and also the hosts of a cable television
program T’ai Chi Chuan with Chung-Jen
Chang. During the more than 20 years that he has been a T’ai Chi instructor,
he has developed his own successful system for increasing the flexibility of
the body that is needed for the practice of T’ai Chi. His wide range of study includes T’ai Chi daoyin, Chen style T’ai Chi, Yang style T’ai
Chi, T’ai Chi sword, and Push-hands.
He teaches classes at Anne Arundel Community
College, Prince George’s Community College, Bowie Community Center, and Glen Dale
Community Center in Maryland, and gives
workshops throughout the U.S. and Canada.
